IT Category Manager
Grancia, TI, CH, 6916
The IT Category Manager is responsible for the end-to-end procurement strategy and operational management of all Information Technology spend at IBSA, including software, hardware and IT consultancy services.
A core principle of this role is the adoption of a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach to all sourcing decisions, prioritising long-term value and holistic risk management
The Category Manager must be able to articulate and share this perspective to internal stakeholders and ensure it is embedded in all category strategies and supplier evaluations.
The position acts as the strategic interface between the Procurement function and the Enterprise Technology & Transformation (ET&T) function, ensuring that IT sourcing decisions deliver value for money, minimise risk, and align with IBSA's digital transformation agenda. Category strategy is defined in close collaboration with ET&T leadership, ensuring full alignment between technology direction and procurement execution.
Key Responsibilities

- Define and maintain a supplier segmentation model and category roadmap aligned with business priorities.
- Embed a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) methodology in all category decisions, ensuring that short-term price savings are never pursued at the expense of long-term value, service continuity or operational risk.
- Maintain an IT supply risk register, proactively identifying and mitigating concentration risk, vendor dependency, cybersecurity exposure, and contract lock-in.
Sourcing & Contracting
- Lead competitive tender processes (RFI, RFQ, RFP) for IT categories in full compliance with IBSA procurement policy.
- Negotiate contracts, SLAs, pricing structures and commercial terms with IT vendors, ensuring best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) — with explicit consideration of implementation, integration, maintenance, training and exit costs, not only licence or purchase price.
- Manage contract lifecycle including renewals, amendments and exit strategies.
- Work closely with Legal to ensure contractual protection on data security, IP, liability and GDPR compliance.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key IT suppliers, conducting regular business reviews and performance evaluations.
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs; escalate issues and drive corrective action plans where necessary.
- Identify and develop alternative sources to reduce supply risk.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary procurement business partner for the ET&T function and other internal stakeholders with IT spend.
- Collaborate with ET&T leadership to understand demand forecasts, project pipelines and technology roadmaps.
Financial, Compliance & Governance Management
